WHAT IS THE

MEANING OF CONSTELLATION?

A constellation is a group of stars that are considered to form imaginary lines and meaningful patterns on the celestial sphere, typically representing animals, mythological people or gods, mythological creatures, or manufactured devices.

WHERE DOES CONSTELLATION ORIGINATED?

The uncharted area is centered on the place in the sky where the south celestial pole would have been around the year 2000 B.C. This date matches the time of the Babylonians and Sumerians. Thus it seems likely the Greek constellations originated with the Sumerians and Babylonians.

Where did the idea of constellations come from?

Well, very good question. The constellations, the patterns and shapes of objects in the night sky have a long history. Many ancient cultures have records of star names and constellations. The human mind has this peculiar ability, it likes to connect the dots.

DIFFERENT CONSTELLATION FORMATION

Ophiuchus has sometimes been used in sidereal astrology as a thirteenth sign in addition to the twelve signs of the tropical Zodiac, because the eponymous constellation Ophiuchus ( "Serpent-bearer") as defined by the 1930 International Astronomical Union's constellation boundaries is situated behind the sun from November 30 to December 18.[1]

The idea appears to have originated in 1970 with Stephen Schmidt's suggestion of a 14-sign zodiac (also including Cetus as a sign). A 13-sign zodiac has been suggested by Walter Berg and by Mark Yazaki in 1995, a suggestion that achieved some popularity in Japan, where Ophiuchus is known as Hebitsukai-Za "The Serpent Bearer").
