"Climate"

What is Climate?

Climate is the statistics of weather over long periods of time.It is measured by assessing the patterns of variation in temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, precipitation, atmospheric particle count and other meteorological variables in a given region over long periods of time. Climate differs from weather, in that weather only describes the short-term conditions of these variables in a given region.

Climate is the average weather in a place over many years. While the weather can change in just a few hours, climate takes hundreds, thousands, even millions of years to change.

Sometimes the climate of a place is described with graphs like this. This graph shows how temperature usually changes over a year for a particular place on Earth.

What is the difference between Climate and Weather ?

The difference between weather and climate is that weather consists of the short-term (minutes to months) changes in the atmosphere. Most people think of weather in terms of temperature, humidity, precipitation, cloudiness, brightness, visibility, wind, and atmospheric pressure, as in high and low pressure.

This diagram shows the similarities and differences between the Climate and Weather!
